Weight Exercise: Can It Optimize Fat Burning?

 

 

I have a friend who hates weight exercises. She said to me: “Hey, why did my fitness instructor force me to work with those heavy dumbbells? He said, if I want to burn my fat, I must do it. It doesn’t make sense! Get sweating, that’s how you burn fat!”. So, here’s my answer...

You are right, and so does your instructor. High impact activities that make you sweating do burn fat and remove toxins from your body. But weight exercises will optimize the fat burning even more. Let’s analyze your own body,


 

Muscles are like the engine in your car, it does the burning job. So, in order to optimize the fat burning in your body, you need to build muscles. And the only way to build muscles is having weight exercises or muscle exercises. The most effective exercise is when you have aerobics, and then improve the fat burning with weight exercises. Please remember that one kilogram of muscles can burn 60 calories more. In addition, muscles will help you in shapping a better posture and in your activities (jumping, running, walking).

We need calories in our body for some reasons. Total calories that we need when we are resting is called RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate). Weight exercises increase your RMR better than aerobics, as weight exercises build more muscles. These are how our metabolism works,

5-10% of energy is needed to burn food we intake into energy

20% is useful for us in having physical activities, including sports

75% is needed by the RMR

As the biggest consumer of energy, it’s logical to use it to help your fat burning and weight loss.


Anti Aging

“If you’re still not sure about it..”, I said to my friend, “..weight exercises can also slowing aging process. You see, soon after your age going thirties, the growth hormone inside your body, which maintain muscles, is decreasing. Without weight exercises, it will keep decreasing, and our muscles function will also weaker.

 

And, as you have already known, without muscles, the fat burning will also decrease. If you see some ladies in their fourties who have a toned body at the gym, that’s because they do routine exercises, especially weight exercises.
